London City Airport (IATA: LHR ICAO: EGLC) Stolport story is one of the airport for STOL (short take off and landing) aircraft. It primarily serves the financial district of London and is a former Docklands site, 6 NM (11 km, 6.9 mi) [1] is the City of London, London, opposite the London Regatta Centre, Newham in East London, England. It was developed by an engineering company Mowlem in 1986-1987. In 2009 London City was the fifth busiest airport in passenger and aircraft movements serving the London area after Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton and 15 busiest in the UK [2]. London City Airport is a public use CAA Aerodrome Licence (Number P728) that allows flights for the transport or public transport of passengers for flight training. Only multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft with special aircraft and aircrew certification to fly 5.5 degree approaches are allowed to conduct operations from London City Airport. [3], the airport has developed a comprehensive plan outlining their vision for growth through the 2030th The plan shows the expansion of the airport, with a maximum capacity of 8 million passengers per year, adding another runway, or significant expansion of the airport boundaries. [4] London City Airport Irish businessman Dermot Desmond bought in October 2006 a consortium comprising AIG Financial Products Corp. and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) for £ 900,000. In the last quarter of 2008 GIP became the sole owners of the airport. In 2009, close to London City Airport served 2,800,000 passengers, a decrease of 14.2% compared 2008.Par Wikipedia!
